What Educ8 processes
Educ8 provides a public school directory. When you use it, the site processes the pages and filters you request, technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, and any schools you save for comparison in your browser. The public site currently has no contact form or parent-to-school enquiry service.
Analytics, cookies and local storage
Analytics is optional. Before you select Yes on the cookie prompt, Educ8 does not intentionally load Google Analytics or send Google Analytics measurement. If you select Yes, Google Analytics 4 receives Educ8's privacy-minimised page measurements. Directory searches are recorded as /schools, profiles as /schools/profile, and comparisons as /compare; Educ8 does not intentionally send search text, school identifiers, comparison selections, contact details or internal data in those measurements.
Educ8 stores your analytics choice in local storage under educ8.analytics.consent.v2. If you consent, Google Analytics may set its analytics cookies. Choosing No prevents that loading; a later withdrawal removes Educ8-accessible _ga cookies.
Why and on what basis
Educ8 uses necessary technical processing to operate, secure and improve the directory, and relies on your consent for optional analytics cookies. It uses the comparison list only to provide the comparison feature you request.
Service providers and international processing
Educ8 uses Vercel to host the website, Supabase for its application data services, and Google Analytics only after consent. These providers may process information outside South Africa. Educ8 uses their services only for the purposes described here and expects appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Retention and security
Educ8 keeps technical and analytics information only for as long as reasonably needed for the stated purposes, security and applicable obligations. Comparison choices remain in your browser until you remove them or clear browser storage. Educ8 uses access controls and technical safeguards designed to limit access to protected information.
Your POPIA rights
Subject to POPIA, you may ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or objection to processing of your personal information, and may withdraw analytics consent. Contact Educ8 at the address above. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) through its official contact channels at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes to this notice
If Educ8 changes this notice, it will publish the updated version here and revise the effective date.
